Latest Sun

Latest Sun (US) is a collaborative American folk project centered around Ian Strahn, Rebecca Lynn Sprague, and Ryan Garnsey.

Deeply rooted in the American songbook and the rich
storytelling traditions that inform it, the members of Latest Sun now call Austria home, bringing their textured, harmony-driven blend of banjo, acoustic guitar, and piano to European audiences.

Having never released recorded music, Latest Sun is a project which can only be experienced live. When Sprague’s ethereal soprano drifts above the Montana-tinged crooning of Strahn and Garnsey, settling into a feathery bed of plucky banjo, shimmering guitars, and honky-tonk piano, the result is a kind of soul tonic—strong enough to bring a tear to the eye of even Franz Joseph’s stoniest lieutenants.

Between them, the band members have shared stages with internationally renowned artists including Glen Hansard, Little Feat, and Jessica Pratt. At this intimate concert at Verein 08 on May 7th, they will perform both individually and together.
